I need to loosen three cylinder head bolts on my M38 to install the crossover tube bracket and the lifting ring. Should I loosen all bolts and re-torque in the proper sequence, or would it be OK to just re-torque the three that will be loosened? My engine is running great, and I don't want to get into a can of worms.

Found that I need to replace one of the cylinder head stud bolts due to erosion. Should I use anti-sieze compound on the bolt in addition to the RTV sealer? Should top threads and bottem threads both get RTV?
Anti-seize is a NO. It will prevent you from applying the correct torque.
Sealant is only needed on the threads in the block.
I am not at all fond of RTV. Permatex #1 or 2 should be used. _________________ Wes K
