I'm tryin to recreate a battery box cover for my project. I have a blank cover but need to come up with a way to secure it. Since mine is an early version, I'm going with a cover that is held on by thumbscrews and need some detail on the straps. Can anyone describe the fasteners that are used to secure the straps to the lid and provide a photo maybe?

For that matter, any pix showing close up detail of the straps would be welcome.

Have a great holiday season!

Tim

Not sure about M38A1's, but my M38 battery cover has quarter-turn wingbolts. Maybe the early A1's were similar (but obviously more bolts)?

The picture of an early repro cover on Peter Debella's site may help (half way down the page):

Merry Christmas!

The straps, both early or late types, were spot welded to the lid. They were not mechanically fastened.
