A couple of questions:
Who does speedometer and intrument repairs? Never mind I did a search and found it. (Speedometer Bob)

Will a 0-60 mph speedometer made for a military vehicle work correctly on the M38?

Trying to test it: I connected the cable to the speedometer. Put the other end in the drill press chuck. Turned it on and watch speedometer. Needle vibrates a little bit. Only thing turning was the odometer.

I did this to another speedometer that I know was a good one before restoration. (Not military)
The needle vibrates and odometer turns.
I am I not doing it the right way?

Ken

Have you tried running the drill in reverse?

You might want to check with Kevin Emdee at Star Electric. He had brand-new NOS speedometers for the M38/M38A1 for around $100 I don't have his e-mail address handy, but you can find him in MVM, Supply Line, or on the G503 page.

I feel dumb now. I could have stacked my life on that I was sure the odometer was turning in the right direction. I connected the cable to the reversable battery operated drill motor and ran it in reverse. Bingo It works right that way.
