...If it's good news or bad news, but I may be the owner of a 1954 M170 soon. The problem is...I'm still 9000 miles from home! Wink

Congrats Dan. Are you on one of those beautiful sandy beaches over there? Wink

I guess you could call it the never-ending beach of moon dust and rocks. With lots of trash and human fecal matter everywhere. And dogs. Shocked

Update! The purchase is in progress. As soon as my dad brings her home, I'll get you guys all the nifty details (serial number, registration, etc.). It has the data plate, and the previous owner cared enough to remove it and gently clean it. All the 24v equipment is still intact, but the engine backfires. Could be a timing issue. The ad says it's a 1954. Body-wise it's in pretty decent shape. Some rust here and there, nothing too bad (or so says the previous owner). I have pictures, but they're not very good. Have to rely on what the previous owner said. He was fairly thorough on describing the problems, so I doubt he left out much if any. Biggest issue is it seems someone welded a "patch" panel over the rear extended portion of the floor bed. I'll have to remove it and see what's actually left. The body's underside and frame are completely undercoated, as it was a Marine Corps ambulance. That's extremely good for the life of the body as you all know. Just a mess to clean during resto. At some point in its post-military life it was converted and used by a fire department. It's fire engine red. It's missing a lot of parts, though. No seat frames, spare tire holder missing, no medical equipment or top bows/brackets.

All-in-all....$1100.

We'll see if that was a good deal or not when it comes home.
