So I have my A1 all apart and went to get the engine serial # so I can fill out the survey. I looked on the flat surface above where the water pump was and only found a 29 stamped rather then an MD#. Is this the correct location? Some back story on my jeep is that it had come back over from Greece so who knows what could have happened. Maybe it was from a CJ?
No telling what those numbers meant and who stamped them there. Most likely your block was rebuilt at least once and has had the block decked by the machine shop which usually grinds off the serial. The only way to differentiate between Willys bare blocks is the casting number and the serial number. The casting number will help date the block but the serial number is the only number that tells you what chassis or application the block was used in. _________________ Wes K
