This is a pic of my M38 fuel shutoff valve, its on the left side, just forward of the firewall. You can look up all fuel system components in the "Downloads" section of this website - find the M38 Parts Manual.
The routing in Skyjeep's photo is correct. The tube from the tank appears to be a repop. I believe the original tube used the short tubing nut. Also in Skyjeep's installation he has substituted two parts where the original installation only used one part. See drawing below.
In the original installation there was only one brass connector (adapter) between the valve and the tube from the tank as seen in the ORD 9 illustration below.
Item C above would be a Weatherhead 252x4 which is PN 191573 on page 81 of the 1955 M38 ORD 9. _________________ Wes K

The fuel line is a pre-made replacement from an auto parts store. Brass adapters were what the local Ace Hardware stocked. I was going to reuse the original line but in trying to gently rebend one end, the line snapped - ok on the outside, very corroded on the inside. Some old parts just don't pay to re-use - like the fuel line that runs under the jeep near the hot exhaust. _________________ 1951 M38
