I just found an interesting Willys Service Bulletin NO. 544 Nov 29, 1961
SUBJECT: SPECIAL EXTERIOR PAINT COLOR
In current production, all vehicles painted Olive Drab are finished with a new Federal Standard 595 Olive Drab X-24087. The necessary intermix numbers required to order this paint from your local paint jobber for refinish purposes are as follows:
Let me add to the confusion. X-24087 and 24087 are not the same. X-24087 was developed for the vietnam era Army helicopters and has more green in it. It was just a coincidence that just after 24087 was discontinued about 1970 the Army introduced a new color OD for choppers and the FS 595 labeled it X-24087 since it was experimental and close to the old 24087. _________________ Wes K
