I finally found a shop to repair my Carter Carburetor. The throttle shaft was quite sloppy with the result that it idled poorly and was prone to stalling.

I previously took it to a couple of carb shops here in Michigan but they didn't think they could do anything for it. Without going into a long story, I recently heard of a place in Illinois that is supposed to be able to repair just about any carb made in the 20th century. They also have a stockpile of cores and parts that would be difficult to equal.

Anyway, I sent them my carb and they installed bushings on the throttle shaft that fixed my problem. They also cleaned it and set everything to factory specs. Cost, $139.75

I've put the carb back on the Jeep and it is running great! If any of you are looking for a place to do your carb, I recommend you give A & G Carburetor-Injection, Inc. a try. http://www.aandgcarb.com/
