Just finishing up the tub and was scraping the tar from inside the battery box on the cowl and came across still more original blue paint.
This is not to debate if these jeeps came from the factory with Strata Blue or not, just posting what I have found.
The C42 antenna base is just for colour comparison.
The top edge has been sandblasted so you are seeing from bare metal to top coat of paint and everything in between.
This same paint was found under the windshield pivot brackets against the body tub with the pivot brackets being OD green. The heater access door on the P/S floor also has the blue under the sealing putty while the door was OD green.
I am building this jeep from various jeeps to make a runner for my wife.
Again this is just an F.Y.I. each person can make their own conclusions on this topic.
Cheers

Hello Pat,
Interresting. Does RCAF has had M38s with the strata blue colour?
Cheers from the west from you. _________________ Guy aka M38CDNBill

RCAF was a different blue, I think a bit lighter. I have a friend just down the road with a RCAF blue jeep he is working on.

Hello Pat,
Thanks for these pictures. I love this colour and my next project will be another M38CDN painted with this RCAF blue.

Hi M38CDNBILL,
That is my jeep that Pat posted pictures of. I spoke with the Curator of the AirForce museum in Comox BC and sent him some pics. This is the paint code that he sent me.
"had the paint scanned at the Home depot. They said it might be too glossy to get a good match. We did two one from the machine and one from eye with colour chits."

Hello xdragoon,
Thanks for these informations. This afternoon, I was with one of my fellow collectors of military vehicles and I told him that my next M38 will be painted RCAF blue. He was really agree with this choice and if he had to rebuild his M38, he would do the same.
Obviously, if I find a U.S. M38, the color will be Strata Blue.
