Look under downloads this site, find M38 manual TM 9-8012 and look at figure 116 on page 282. There you'll see the short shoe to the rear. _________________ Don Norris

Don,
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly- I am at work and my books are at home--I need to know where on the "shoe" do i rivit the pad. It can be top-middle -bottom of the shoe because it is shorter than the shoe.

Now I understand. The pad goes in the middle. I looking at a new set in front of me as I type.
