I recently acquired some take-off leaf springs to replace my existing worn out leaf springs on my 1953 M38a1. The take-off springs don't have the threaded eye for the external threads on my new shackle bushings. My shackles are correct for the year jeep (greaseable U shape - outside of shackle is open). Does anyone have experience with installing and using the unthreaded leaf springs with this type of shackle? My concern is obviously that the shackles don't stay in the eyes of the leaf as I drive around.

Make sure you have the right sets of springs. They may have had the threaded bushings removed before you got them. The bushings for both ends are published with part numbers in the ORD 9.
