Well, a scheduled "routine" visit to my doctor has put me back in the hospital again. Had stents put in several years ago, now apparently have some type rythem problem. Been here three days, and they haven't fround the right meds to control it yet. They are now talking about "shocking" it. At least I got my wife to bring my laptop so I can communicate!

Chuck,

I hope you get to feeling better soon!

Have they talked about a pacemaker?

Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear you're on "sick call" Chuck. They've got all sorts of great heart stuff now, and I hope they can come up with the right solution for you pronto! I'm glad you're able to get online. It can help the time pass a little easier. Wishing you good luck!

Thanks for all the kind words, I appreciate it. I'm still in the hospital, apparently I have "atrial fibrillation", a form of rapid, irregular heartbeat. Good news is, it's not related to the stents that were installed a few years ago. Dave W., a stent is a wire mesh tube that is inserted into an artery that has been opened using a procedure such as balloon angioplasty or atherectomy. These procedures open clogged arteries to allow more blood to flow through. Happens alot to us Southern boys who grew up eating chittlins, souse meat, and that sort of thing!!

Don't know why that last was dated the 14th, it's Tuesday, the 13th, and they finally let me come home tonight. Will wait a few days and see if the medications will fix the problems. Thanks to all of you who excpessed concern, I really appreciate it.

Chuck,

Keep your spirits high, they will get you rolling before long. The things they can do with the heart are incredible.

Several years ago my father (an Alabama boy like you) suffered a heart attack while in the emergency room and his heart stopped for several minutes. But the great work of the staff brought him back by defibrillation and chest compressions. They did the defibrillations so much he had to have skin grafts due to the burns. They told us he needed emergency surgery to open up some arteries but he wasn't stable to do it, we told them to try because we didn't want to lose him for not trying.

Well he made it through the surgery fine, but then his heart developed an arrhythmia that again made his heart stop. They could only bring it back by shocking it. That happened twice and they too couldn't find a medication to correct it. So they inserted a pace maker/ defibrillator in his chest. It will shock his heart if the arrhythmia ever comes back. It hasn't happened again, but he is protected if it ever does.

They then told up to be prepared for brain damage due to his heart stoppage. God blessed us because 10 days later he came home with no damage and a new reworked heart. Now 9 years later he is still going strong and keeps me hopping.

Greg

Chuck, hope your recovery continues to move along well, & that you continue to feel better! With the time off, you should be finding all kinds of neat Jeep stuff online!
