I have a 3/52 m38. recently bought another 8/52, but needed seats. So I over time found nos seats. Comparing the seat of my first jeep with the nos seat I notice the lower pivit pin had a "head" like a nail at the end of pivit. the nos seat does not have the "head" feature. The nos seat is dated 5/51 wth the g740 number. is this a early feature vs late, or different manufacture? Any thoughts

You are most likely noticing the end result of the application of MWO ORD G740-W10 to the M38 stock passenger seat after 1955. The original seat without the added flat rings tended to spread the legs apart with heavy use and the seat leg would pop out of the pivot bracket.
