Just wondering. Why are the dealers asking $14 or more for waterproof plugs when you can buy them at your local Oreilly for $7? I was prepared to switch to regular wires and plus when I happened across an m211 post on Steel Soldiers. The guy said he bought them for $7 from Rockauto. That got me thinking and I searched O'Reilly's website for Autolite 2245 - $6.89, usually available in 24hrs! I'm going to stop by in the morning after work and order a set! It never crossed my mind to check locally. _________________ Matt

Another valuable lesson in parts shopping. This has been discussed several times here. _________________ Wes K

Yep, I feel kind of stupid after going back and searching to make sure I had the right part number! A little searching goes a long way. Now, if somebody sells the waterproof wire for half the price, we'll be in business! Wait, let me go search that first. Just kidding, my wires are almost new - don't need any. _________________ Matt

I bought two sets of plugs for my jeeps at O'Reillys a couple of years ago, were shipped in overnight to the local store, price was about what was quoted above. I've gotten quite a few parts there - bearings, seals, gaskets - you never know what they have until you ask! _________________ 1951 M38

I also got my waterproof plugs from Napa. Same with brake shoes. A very good price plus no shipping charge. The fellow that runs the napa store where I shop is an older man and he knows the older vehicles very well. That helps me a lot.

Yep - once I acquired the interchange parts numbers, I found out that you can buy a lot of deuce parts from the local parts houses too. Only problem is, YOU had better know what you are looking for (specs), have the correct part number, and/or happen to run across an old school employee that knows more than the computer in front of them! _________________ Matt
