I just rebuilt my original fuel/vacuum pump.Everything seems to be working fine but I need to know whether or not to plug the vacuum pump inlet.
I currently do not have a set of wipers nor do I have most of the fording valves.The only fording valve I have is the valve on the side of the block at the PVC valve.If I leave the vacuum port open it makes a lot of noise if I plug it the vacuum noise is gone and the engine runs better.
My question therefore is,is it alright to operate for awhile with the vacuum inlet port plugged .
Any insight will be appreciated.

Yes. I assume you are describing the suction port on the pump that is making the noise. You used outlet in your title and inlet in the body of your post. When discussing vacuum it is best to use suction and pressure for those ports. Suction goes to the "T" for the distributor/wipers and pressure goes to the intake manifold. _________________ Wes K

Is there a reason you are not connecting that port to the wiper "T" where it belongs? All you need to do for the wiper side of the "T" is plug it. But the other side of that "T" provides ventilation for the distributor housing which serves two purposes: 1-evacuates ionized gasses from the distributor, 2-Cools the coil. In hot climates like summer's mid to southern US the coil when consistently overheated will fail prematurely and they are not cheap. _________________ Wes K

I'm gonna have to get the tubing and the tee fitting,
That was gonna be my next concern,whether it would be ok to run it with the vacuum not hooked up to the distributor.
