Get in touch with Dave ( known on this board as davem201m38 ). He lives in the UK and has a lot of good connections over there.

Hi,
Dave here.
I just posted you an email.
I'll try and help you out all I can, but as for parts....... I leap on them every chance I get and then keep them. The UK is pretty useless unless your looking for parts that are the same as the Mseries trucks.
Genuine M38 parts I pick up in Europe as lots of those armies ran M38s or got them as Military Aid in the 50s and 60s.
Needing a whole tub is a bummer, one was sold (original, new condidtion) on epay UK for about £1700 last year, this had been taken off a released jeep that the chasiss etc was used for off-roading. That guy is now trying to assemble one from parts that crop up on epay.
I'm watching it and have to say that I think it would have been cheaper to get Chrysler to build him a new m38 from scratch!!!
As Jeeparts will tell you, in the UK the M38 is the wrong jeep to restore and given the actual selling prices as opposed to the Milweb asking prices a jeep that you will never ever re-coup anything like your expenditure.
If your tub really is shot then the only realistic way to go is a MD Juan repro (in the UK) which in the end might turn out cheaper than pots of dodgy repairs.
Now that you have your jeep please come back and post some pictures and more information and we'll see where we can go from there,
All the best,
Dave
