Is this an early or late m38 steering box? I tried comparing to the pictures on Wes's album, but I need to do some cleaning on it before I can tell for sure.

It is an early unit.
Ross TA 13077 WO-801691 ORD 7375345
FSN 2530-737-5345 as shown on PG124 of Ryan Miller's
M38 reference guide.
The late M38 box has extra reinforcement around the fill plug and a rib just above the plug (yours does not). The early M38 box cover is ribbed, the numbers are recessed on the cover (yours does).

Grab yourself a copy of this great reference source Wink

That's an early M38 box.

Thanks guys, just wanted solid confirmation on that. I do have Ryan's book, just need to remember to use it as a source!
