should the vacuum connections be plugged when you do not have wipers hooked up?

That is not the correct URL to use for linking the photo.

The correct URL is: http://willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules/gallery/albums/album424/002a_001.jpg

this is my first try at adding a photo, we will see If I figured that out.

You can cap that port on the wiper "T" that would have fed your wipers with an 1/8" P plug. With no wipers you should keep the line from the intake to the vac side of the pump and from the vac side of the pump to the wiper "T". Then the line from the wiper "T" to the distributor should remain installed.

But not that center threaded empty hole halfway up the side of the fuel pump. That should be plumbed to your bell housing if the basic integral fording vent system is installed or install a vent cap on it also.

The Vacuum section of the pump must be able to breath. If you have the stock 24 volt distributor it needs the vacuum line connected even if you are not running vacuum wipers. That suct line to the distributor removes explosive ionized gasses from the distributor body and assists in cooling the coil.

Right click on the photo you want to use. In the drop down menu that appears select and click on "Copy image url". Now go to your post and paste that url between the two "[img][/img]".

I have a similar question on my M38A1, but I'm not following how to post a picture of what I don't have in terms of hard vac lines on my vehicle. I have the two lower ports plugged and no hard lines. It is my goal to put the vac wipers back in service and of course I do want to vent the distributor as you noted. The color image you have in this thread I'm guessing is on an M38 as the fuel pump and other items look substantially different from my A1.

As I bought the vehicle it has the crankcase vent fitting and one vertical hard line running on the left side of the block, no horizontal lines, no Tee fittings as I'm seeing in the manuals.

Best suggestions at this point?

Thanks,
Wade

Wade, I opened an album for you. Follow the tutorials.

There were at least 6 fuel pumps that the M38 & M38A1 shared and they all interchange. So they are not an issue. The only significant difference is the added hand priming lever on one of the pumps which has no effect on how the pump operates in the fuel delivery system.

I tried editing my post in this thread above now that I have a couple of pictures loaded in my photo album. Clearly I wasn't successful. Can you tell me where I went wrong trying to post to this thread from my album on this site?

thanks,
Wade

I usually open a second page to pick the photos from.

Go to your photos and put your curser on one. Right mouse click
should give you some options. Copy image URL.

Now go back to the other page with your post. Upper right pick or type in
[img]paste your image URL here then[\img]

Wade,

When we opened your album I posted a list of our photo tutorials. It is all explained there in great detail. If after following the tutorials you still cannot get photos where you want them I would suggest finding a computer geek close to you and do a bit of over the shoulder to get the knack of it.

Sorry I'm testing the patience of the veteran forum members trying to work out how to post a picture relevant to my vacuum line question. I had hoped by leaving the command string in the post above, now reproduced below, that someone with more experience could look at it and have that "ah hah" moment that clearly is eluding me as to what I'm doing wrong.

I did attempt to follow the tutorial you conveniently provided and that was helpful with regard to uploading to the album. I would have thought that importing a picture from that album into a post would be fairly simple. As shown below I did use the "Img" button at the start of the URL string and again at the end. I'm guessing file size shouldn't be an issue since this is coming from the uploaded album.

I get that new members asking basic questions that established members feel have already been perfectly answered a thousand times before is annoying. If anyone cares to provide some further guidance I'd appreciate the help.

I found my error in posting a picture and this shows the left side of my engine. What I was really seeking through all of this was other images of how the vacuum lines were originally routed since clearly there are none here.

Not sure what you mean by here? We have dozens of clear photos of the lines in our photo albums. Have you searched the members albums?

http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules.php?set_albumName=Members-Albums&op=modload&name=gallery&file=index&include=view_album.php

Especially mine:

and especially this one:

Where you would have found this photo:

The words, "...clearly none here." was in reference to MY engine block lacking hard vacuum lines in this location...as in "clearly there are none" installed on MY engine. It wasn't, "clearly there are no photos of value on this forum"

It was not meant, nor do I think it reads, as a commentary on the range of quality photos on this forum. I'm really not trying to be cute or sarcastic. I really wanted help. I really find this forum to be filled with useful information.

Yes..clearly there are no vac lines on your F134.

Wade,
I see you were able to post a thumbnail foto. That's a start. If you dbl click your foto before you copy the foto and do the img/img thing you'll post the larger version. Keep trying.
