Does anyone know of a source for replacement breakers? I figure that I might as well replace them during the project if possible. I see on here that modern equivalents are made by Klixon but haven't been able to find anyone stocking them.

I know Saturn Surplus lists them with Douglas or Packard
connectors. John at Midwest Military also has them listed.

And they are on EBay from several sources and configurations .

Take care .

Are they bad? I cleaned mine after not being used for a long time and they worked just fine. I saw some on line, I think it would be a good savings not having to replace them. Just my 2 cents.

What do the experts suggest? Is there a risk of them having degraded over time and breaking early/ late or as long as they pass power through are they good to go?

They are only "Good to go" if they trip at the amperage they were intended to trip at. A CB that is stuck closed and passes power fine is not a Circuit Breaker anymore. At the going price of harnesses $500 to $700 I would think foremost on your mind would be protecting that investment. These circuit breakers have internal moving parts including a spring. These parts will corrode with time, pit and burn from heat during overloads and the spring will weaken with age.

Thanks Wes, that's what I was expecting. As you mentioned with protecting the new harness, I should do my due diligence and ask if there are any new best practices that have been found? From my research on here I would suspect that 1 for 1 replacement of the breakers is preferable but is there any reason to switch to a fuse setup with something like modern blade fuses?
