Like the title says. I'm looking for a good radiator shop that knows how to work on these old radiators. I'm in Virginia so I'd have to ship it which isn't a problem. I just need to find a shop that knows what to do. The last shop that had it said it would cost $700 to recore.... Trying to shop around. Any thoughts? As always, the help is greatly appreciated! _________________ Dave

Ya Dave 700 bucks is outa line for a recore. I think you should be 350-450 max unless your tanks are trashed too. Stay away from shops w/shiny paint and neon. Their niche is late model auto switch out and swap in offshore repop. Look for the shop in the industrial district with the grit on the sidewalk and sooty walls. There you're more likely to find an oldtimer
that knows his stuff.
No rad mech worth his salt is gonna quote you a firm price w/o seeing what you got. Try to keep it local-if you have a problem with it later he's the guy
you want to take care of it. Good Luck.. _________________ keep 'em rollin'

Thanks Rick, Yeah. I thought $700 for a recore was out of line too. The guy working on my A1 (Jim Lurba, who was a judge for MVPA apparently) said that was a crazy price too. He quote me roughly $400-$450 and he has seen it. So we are looking for other options because $700 is just crazy. Jim said it was one of the nicer radiators that he has seen in a while so I really am unsure how it got to $700... _________________ Dave
