I would like to provide some sort of heat shield for about 3 feet of the exhaust stack on my M38A1 w/ fording kit. When the canvas top is off it will be easy for someone to grab or touch the pipe.
I have been thinking of rolling a small piece of expanded metal to provide about 1/2" clearance to the pipe. I thought of a couple of pipe clamps fitting the exhaust pipe with screws in them sticking outward that I could put through an opening in the expanded metal and with nut and washer hold it in position from touching the pipe.
Has anyone tried this or some other method or some after-market kit that might work?
Thanks
Mike D

I got this one at Idaho Motor Pool a couple of years back when they had surplus M151 stuff.

This gives me some help. I can ask some army reserve buddies that might know if something is still floating around Ft McCoy or other installations, now that I know this is not a "one-off"
