Hi
My first jeep restoration - here we go
First thing I've discovered is I know nothing about jeeps
Lots about Land Rovers but not jeeps so before taking anything off I'm reading
My Willys is a 1951
I am Busy doing research at the minute but engine is a Datsun engine - this is coming out - managed today to buy a 1948 engine complete minus carb and distributor
Picking it up Thursday
The rest of the car is complete except handbrake -no rust at all
I'm very lucky it seems
Update to follow with photos

Hometown listed, good man.

Let me give you a piece of advice I bought the hard way. THROW NOTHING AWAY until you are dead certain it has no value. When I bought my 38a1, it had been modified for a CJ3 set of bows. It had doors, with old civilian covers that were not much but 100mph tape. I declared the doors civilian junk and pitched them. Wrong answer, later on, I realized they were issue. Idiot me, now I get to find another set and pay for them.

Happy Trails.

Dave

I could have written the last post, it is so true to form. I too had ugly civilian type doors on my M38A1. Thought, I'll never use these and turfed them....stupid me. Save EVERYTHING and as Wes says A. Put in order of removal and B don't kick it out of order!! Good Luck
