OK, you can all smile at your poor limey cousin here but...............

our local market (as in traditional European market) has a new stall selling imported 50s and 60s US clothing which our teenagers just love as its all back in fashion at the moment. He also sells lots of US army gear from the 50s 60s and 70s which was easily available in the UK 20 years ago but has since been replaced by the camo stuff so O.D. genuine M65 jackets are almost impossible to buy here.

Anyway I picked myself up a real nice OD M65 jacket in large long which is hard to find over here.

I also picked up another jacket that I've never seen before.
OD lined with fleece/blanket.
1 pocket on left hand breast.
2 slit pockets for hands.
Elasticated internal cuffs.
No hood
No waist cord.
Buckle either side of bottom hem to tighten hem of coat.
marked; Jacket Intermeadiate cold weather, OG 107
8415-753-5617
Alpha Industries

What the heck is it???? Something with a specific use/issue??? or just a standard issue that is unusual here??

Thanks,
Dave.

Hi Ryan,
I was going to do that but I'd have to put it in my gallery first and I'm not sure what people would think when they logged on and occasionally found a picture of a jacket in the top left corner of the screen???
I'll do it anyway, after my ready mix tanker has delivered 8 metre cube of concrete later today.
Thanks,
Dave

I'd like to see a pic Dave, the clothing side is one of my interests, wish I had your guy here in Yeovil, I sent off to a guy on e-bay for my M-65 in US, its a good one but it cost me, customs got hold of that one! I had one back at collage but wore it to death in the 1980's when I got a job building, wish I had known then what I know now. That said I have just got a pair of cold weather trousers from out local Yeovil market surplus guy, DSA100-74-C-0084 OD107, bit short but with US Paraboots they look the bizz. I have a book about Elvis which has lots of his army pics, including M38a1 jeeps. My point being his era, early 1960's between the Korian and Veitnam wars, cold war if you like, has very little info on web about uniforms, his cold weather clothing is different, as are his field shirts. Laughing

Ok then, under protest I'll post a pic, but god knows what people will think when they start to see pictures of 'jackets' on this web site.

If you read this Ryan, is there someway to do this so that my jacket photo doesn't pollute these pages.

Under protest I want to see it and posted in the gallery Very Happy

I (and others) have all kinds of photos in the gallery. Ryan and Wes doesn't seem to mind and I think it adds some interest to the gallery.

I like photos jeep related or not............

Dave,

I don't know much about that jacket, but I am sure someone here does.

Thanks for posting the photo. I am curious to see if anyone knows more about it.

Hey, did the kid come with the jacket? Very Happy Laughing

Kid?????
What kid??????
Oh my God there's a kid in the jacket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How did that little bugger get in there??
But look in the second photo he's slipped back inside.
Jeeze, where's the little bugger gone.
You have to watch this type of vermin they get in every where, next I'll be heamoraging money, that's how they affect you, before youi know it you're on your back in an ITU ward, bankrupt, the end , lights out.

Better go and get innoculated now, if it';s not too late.
All the best,
Dave.

I recall getting issued one of those in the 60's while in the Air Force. They also look a lot like the Navy issue utility deck coat. I recall they were very comfortable (read as beats the $&% out of the standard isue field jacket).

I can confirm it is VERY comfortable when compared to the M65 and liner, especially as it has cuts outs in the under arms to let you move and sweat. Come the cold weather it may well become my favourite 'worker'.
That's an old Brit army term, we have 'workers' which are uniform we try and keep for working in day to day, and 'best' which is the same uniform but kept 'best' for muster parades and parades where we have to wear our day to day uniform. As opposed to our No. 1 or No. 2 dress.

Dave.

I wouldn't mind having one of those, although here in Texas the 100+ F days are getting old. Confused

That's not as heavy as a Navy foul weather jacket. The straps and buckles at the waist sure look like WWII practice, though.

I believe that is a Navy jacket, it is just like the one my dad gave me after he got out of the Navy Reserves... I wore it out after 5 or 6 years... It was pretty well worn when I got it...

It was worn with their utilities, dungarees, and light blue denim type shirt.

The name of the ship "USS Tills" for example would be stenciled on the back in black 2" letters (Mine was)

Hope this helps...
