The support rod only attaches at the lower body in front of the door opening in two places. There is no support at the top, only a rubber donut to stop it from hitting the windshield support

So a clarification and an AHA moment from RickG who was kind
and patient enough to explain that the fording intake tube was
in fact not connected to the windshield in any way and if it was
the windshield would not be able to fold down.
Back to the shop where filling of titanium woodpecker bill
holes continues and a patch will be done at the top side
where a chunk is missing.
