CLEANING OUT MY GARAGE

When you bought your military vehicles you probably remember having to do this chore. Cleaning out the garage, that is. Making room for what’s to come! Some things are easy to throw. My wife's stuff, of course, is the first to go. Next on my list is the other stuff up in the rafters that I have been saving for that project that never came to fruition. Some of the stuff up there is valuable (I keep telling myself), but really most is worthless. Most of my kids old toys that I've saved fall into that category.

Some of you may remember these old toys. Among them I came across an old Erector set my son had. It was not in the original box, just an inexpensive set. You could only build so many items that were shown in the directions. It is not a hot-seller today because of plastic toys like Legos that have taken its place. Anyway that was the first to be thrown out. But wait a minute - should I save it? I could certainly do something with it. But what? Nope! Out it goes.

After setting everything out on the curb ready for our city's clean-up crews, my eyes caught that old Erector set. What could I do with that? It seems a shame to throw out that old classic! I thought a minute and imagined my army jeep sitting in the garage. Well, the photo shows you what I came up with. Yes, I took a few liberties with a few pieces, but if you ever had an Erector set, you may remember that what ever you built often really did not look like what it was supposed to. But I must say most.of you may recognize my construction. I was trying to get this as close as I could.

What do you think?

Jim
