Thanks Hal. Yes some of the nuts are gone, and I will have to find some square ones. I think a friend of mine has a spot welder, that I can use to do that with.
I saw your photos of the antenna array in the announcements section. Really nice.
My wife and I had a liscense but we got dis-intereted years ago and let them lapse. I was ka5cky, and she was ka5ckz.

Have not been real active in radio for last couple of years... slowly getting back into it as the jeep is more complete
If your license expiredless than 2 years ago you can still renew... I get on occasionally. The local club wants me to set up with the jeep in April for the 5th anniverary of the OKC Bombing Marathon... thinking about it...
Hope this helps...

Larry,
The shield is the Air Force Communications Command (AFCC). It was done away with in the late 80's in one of the reorganizations of the Air Force. At one point all the communications units belonged to this command and were assigned to a base as a support unit.
I did 20yrs in comm worked almost all types, Fixed (Base Support), Mobile (Combat Communications - Live in tents and drive big green trucks
), Installation (Installed major systems on bases). I was in Navaids (Ground Navigation) for 12 yrs; then got retrained into Wideband (Microwave Radio) where I did my last 8.
Been a Ham operator since 1984 and have operated from all over, best souviner I got was one of 7 licenced hams in Desert Storm from Bahrain as A92FM. I made 300+ contacts from there. Was IN Guantanimo Bay during the Haitian thing in 1992 as KG4HM made 1249 contacts in 25 days there...
I get on the radio off and on... hope to here you on...
