Clutch Cable Boot Clamp

I have been using the Tinnerman clamps since 1966 and can still count how many I had to throw away on one hand! They are a very sturdy spring steel and are installed using a pair of pliers to squeeze the the two tabs together thereby advancing the catch slots with the two rows of teeth until the clamps gets tight. To remove the clamp for maintenance you simply grab the two main tabs with a pair of pliers and pop the release tab up.

Thanks Wes. I'm glad to hear how they work and especially that they can be used more than once. It makes the high price somewhat easier to justify. Now the hard part to find some.....probably NOS if at all. I read another old post where John @ MWM said this:

In the meantime, I think I'll try the CV ear style clamp.

The original clamps for the cable boot as well as the crankcase vent hoses were a Tinnerman serrated type clamp. I contacted Tinnerman a few years back and inquired about having them made. I was told that these were a military only part and since there had been such a long spell that they were not ordered, they scrapped the tooling. This would be an expensive part to have made. Your best bet is a good take off at this point and those are very difficult to find as well.

These clamps were sold to many OEMs, particularly in the aircraft business and have been used on Scat & Sceet type heater hoses in the 1", 2.5", 3" & 4" varieties for many years. Many more users besides the military. The problem the last 5 to 10 years is a British company bought Tinnerman out and moved production of the fast moving Tinnerman items to England and dis-continued production of the slower moving items.
