M38 Top Bow pivot point hardware

Post by Trip »

I have the 2 top bow hoops but the pivot points need work. It appears originally a rivet and washer was used to hold the 2 hoops together and allow for movement.

My question is what size was the rivet and washer(s) ?

in Wes's photo album under M38 canvas top, (4 down, first photo, JAM's drwgs -1) there is a closeup of the original rivet and washer but the dimensions are missing!

I need the dimensions of the rivet and washer(s). It appears it could be 2 washers but I think it is only one.

I can measure mine tonight. You could probably estimate the size from the picture.

Top Bow Pivot

Post by ocwd »

Looks like the rivet head is 1/2". My top bows don't have a washer between the two pieces at the pivot point. I don't know if my bows are original or reproductions. They came with the Jeep when I bought it 15 years ago (or so).

There is a 1" OD X 1/16" thick washer in the pivot point between the two bow sections on mine.
