I got both the engine and t case back there.
I'll figure out how to get it in the frame.

Lol. I have a HF one. What is fun is rolling these over grass.
I will remove my fenders for better clearance.
I am taking a week off starting Friday. Between now and then, 1 day of rain expected.

The 3 ton engine hoist I used to have had 5 inch pneumatic tires it was awesome on grass and gravel.

Today i had an order from Midwest Military showed up. I am pretty much stocked up on all the things I would need to get this jeep finished.

supposed to be off next week- need to redo the steering components on my friends 2000 Dodge Dakota, and on my 13 f150. And it is supposed to rain off and on all week... so the back yard will be soggy.
Will figure it out.

Well... making an off-road mod to the engine hoist, and it will take some work to do it the way the inter web states.. using 8” or 10” HF rubber casters will raise the hoist about a food. So, this will not clear the lower part of the front axle. Solution, put axle on jackstands, but then that requires to lift the engine higher... so... raises the center of gravity. Let me think about how I’m gonna do this. I found some 4” pneumatic all terrain casters on Amazon. They won’t be here till Tuesday. The HF ones just won’t work for me on this.
The rain we had the last few days turned the yard into a mud pit. I really need a French drain system, so future me problem.
Anyway, today, front fenders and grill come back off to facilitate engine installation. I am also going to finish my f150 project so that will take all day.
Pictures to follow.

You could bend up some heavy flat stock or maybe some angle to make some swoopy brackets, this would allow larger casters as well as widening the stance for stability.

Before common lumber got stupid expensive like everything else I might've suggested getting some 2-by-12 pine planks to roll it around on.......pick 'em up and put 'em down, then use them for a base in front of the jeep.

I have a sheet of plywood but in half I used to help push the engine out back, but you can’t push the crane without the wheels leaving the edge. I may just go get another piece.
The wheels come today. I also thought about just picking up some metal and building a leg extension (removeable) to use those bigger wheels.
I’ll post what I come up with.

how far down do I snip this? I assume just below the last rivet hole when I install that rivet. I put the fenders and grill in my garage until I finished putting this engine in the bay.

gross wx coming which will turn my yard into swamp. The wheels I ordered didn't show up despite being stated on the website it had been.
so I pulled the plywood out and started to get the engine prepared to install.

I needed some extra width of support under the wheel between the cement step stone and used some extra fence boards I had behind the shed. Perfect.

Between these pictures- in the behind neighbors yard, they have a bunch of 40 year old trees... The houses are about 30 years old. Anyway, the wind was blowing and a gigantic tree limb came crashing down.

I actually got scared it was the whole tree and bolted out of the way. The wind blows around here all the time so I didn't think much of working in it. Its spring- it happens.

I rested the pan on a small 3 ton jack stand. (the metal saucer is one of those magnet trays I am using to hold the bottom of the bag on in case it rains.

Wouldn't you know it... once I finished all this, my box of caster wheels showed up on my porch by a neighbor who it was delivered to.
I am still totally going to put those wheels on my engine hoist and also buy some more for my engine stand. I was impressed with their construction.

I think it was more of a work out getting the engine out of the frame back two years ago.Naugha wrote:Hi April.
I used my HF cherry picker to install the engine and body. Even on the concrete floor of my barn it was a job. Those things were not made for a dirt track.
Sketchy but it worked!
