For Wes and all.

The challenge I've found where I live is getting my hands on 100LL or anything else other than the now "official" and "approved" automotive gasoline. All the boats around here run on regular unleaded gasoline. The airports may have 100LL for aircraft but won't sell it to anyone for anything else. Even in the more rural areas of New England that I travel I haven't seen anything other than unleaded gasoline, diesel, or propane/LPG.

Frustrating as I would like to run a mix - as Wes recommended a number of years ago in a related thread - of 100LL and regular unleaded. I think he suggested about a 50/50 mix. The 100LL last longer and stays free of water better than modern unleaded. I avoid the ethanol wherever I can.

I'm fortunate there are plenty of ethanol-free gas stations in my area, almost one on every corner. I put nothing but in the M38.

Our small-town airport has sold me a couple of gallons of 100LL in the past --- having a friend who hangers his airplane there might be why. I'm not using it in the M38 anymore. As much as I'd like to treat the old L134 to some leaded gas, it doesn't really need it, she runs fine on ethanol-free. And avgas was well north of $5 a gallon. Not messing with the magic potion lead additives either.

I was just wondering out loud if avgas might help running a jeep at high altitude. The OP's original question.

The same is true for ethanol blended gasoline. If your vehicle sits for extended periods get that junk out of your tank and drain everything. Using the stabilizer only works where there is liquid.
