It can be confusing sometimes.

Your first photo shows the entire mount assembly (bottom two plates, rubber and top stud plate).

Your second photo shows the mount rubber itself still glued to the engine side stud plate but torn away from the frame side mount plates.

Only the M38/M38A1/M170 use the front side mount rubbers with three metal plates. The MB, CJ's use the two plate rubbers.

when we lifted the engine the top part came away with the engine and the lower part with the rad braces stayed on the frame... Ideas
Most likely you lift the engine without removing the two bolts that bolt the mount's bottom plates to the frame. The mounts were probably old and tired and separated easily from the rubber.

I ordered new, I figured since it was out would be a good idea.

New mounts came in but didn't have the groove in the bottom plate like the old ones. I would think they are usable. Looking of Willys site didn't see any with the grooved plate as the bottom plate fitting the engine side. Also got ith my order transmission moutns but don't see them on the jeep I have.
Edit: I see that the pictures posts in about post from Wes. The engine mounts in your picture. I can rebuy new old stock with the groove at the bottom, or use the ones I got that are flat on the bottom.

Hello mydadsjeep,
You didn't say, but I'm guessing you have a M38A1? (this post is about M38 motor mounts)

Not sure I understand what you're asking. What "willys site" are you talking about? If you have a new question it's usually better to start a new topic so you get better responses to specific questions.

While it might not be "correct" for your jeep, I believe either mount will work if you're using the lower radiator support rods. If you're not using the rods or aren't building to the military detail, they'll still work for you, as would a CJ mount.
