Thanks Rick. You the man.
24V ... all the way.
The trick is to have backups of everything that uses current.

Turn it up!
Thanks again Rick.
The number of ‘unsolvable’ challenges is shrinking.
For anyone thinking of restoring a war jeep, my nubbie suggestion is to first go find the short list of rare parts. If you can do that and not get discouraged then go find the jeep.
If it was easy everyone could do it.
If it was easy Ron would have a pleasant attitude and play well with others.

You're one of my heroes Don. Not kidding. Perseverance and fortitude is great stuff. Believe it or not I cheer your success.
Yup, I'm working on playing well with others, but I usually land somewhere in between Moriarty (Kelly's Heroes) "always with the negative waves" and one of the Grumpy Old Men (take your pick). There's no rose-colored glasses for me.
Did I mention my middle name is Richard? But you can call me Dick.
Good luck!

Thanks gentlemen..... I can't decide on which Red Green quote to use.
Later we may form a Mutual Admiration Society.
More pics. A worn lower thrust washer will get some attention. The vertical shaft play is .02" rather than the .01" spec. max.
FYI, 'China' is a county in northern Georgia where inexpensive tools are made.
Here is where the magic happens.
I will go dark for a few days and prepare the battlefield.

(See TM 9-1825B / Section 5/ Group 3/ P.240-248)
Using my HF press and a socket with extender I replaced the upper and lower dist. shaft bushings.
The bushings must also have their two oiling holes drilled. After insertion.
The oil seal was damaged (lost its plastic/rubber insert) when I pressed it in above the upper bushing. I had seated the upper bushing flush with the bore opening. Maybe I should have pressed the upper bushing below the space occupied by the oil seal.
I would like to replace the seal but have not found a source for the part.
Also. Can I use a nail cut to length to replace the shaft collar rivet?

Hi Don,
Looking good on the overhaul!
I'd recommend a slotted spring pin (a.k.a "roll pin") instead of a cut nail. My local Ace Hardware has an assortment in the Hillman bins.
