Well I see a post on the G503 that the M38 didn't necessarily have one mounted from the factory. So I guess it is what ever suites ur fancy.

I think you are correct. It would probably depend on the time period you are wanting to portray, then find a suitable extinguisher. I think there was more than one manufacturer.
