Rob Siegel recently wrote an excellent series for Hagerty titled "the big six". I found them very informative and thought the articles would be a great reference to post here. I will paste a link to each of the articles here as I can't paste the whole thing due to copyright concerns.
Some of the points are more applicable to the jeeps than others, but all of the information is helpful and I hope you find it useful.

The final article on ball joints isn't really applicable to the jeeps. However, it is a good read.

Part II: Measuring voltage.
Quoted from the article:
- A voltage measurement is taken with the circuit powered, in parallel with the circuit, on the whole circuit.
- A resistance measurement is taken with the circuit unpowered, in series with the circuit, on a portion of the circuit.
- A current measurement is taken with the circuit powered, in series with the circuit, on the whole circuit.
Print that, cut it out, and tape it to the wall somewhere.
