Rubber Shifter Boot

Does anyone have a good source for the shifter boot? The one I bought several years ago cracked. Funny that it's been in the garage all this time and the shift lever has hardly been moved yet it still cracked. Just cheap crap I guess.

If it was NOS when you bought it , it may have already been 40 years old.

It's been a while but i'm pretty sure it is a reproduction from Peter Debella.

Then that would make it a cheap repop.

You are lucky. The brand new one (Made in India) I installed on a customers CJ ripped apart on installation. Borrowed my 55 year old used boot until the replacement arrived.

To clarify Wes what I meant was there are reproductions for sale from all of our vendors, some of which are poor, and some of which are new USA made.

The boots that Pete is selling are new, USA products, not cheap imports.

I’ve talked with Pete, and John, and George, and I believe if anyone bought a
product from them and it didn’t measure up they would want to know.

It is entirely possible to get a bad batch of anything. I bought some repop brackets a while back that were made incorrectly. I contacted the vendor to see if maybe I just got a bad set. But after checking they found the whole batch they received was incorrect. I received a refund, and they went back to their supplier.

The other thing to keep in mind is rubber and similar products do degrade.
I live in Central Texas and the heat and lack of humidity plays $&% on soft parts. Routine applications of the right products will help prolong the life.
That and parts that are meant to be flexed often that sit for long periods of time will get brittle and crack when flexed if not treated.
Just my two cents

Which, if you read all of my posts carefully I have iterated the same line on the parts in the past.

My only question to you was. Your post:

led me to suspect you meant Pete has two different source boots in stock when you only listed one. The answer that he carries only one and sometimes they can be good or bad would have satisfied my curiosity.
