I have checked all of my manuals and the members photo albums and have not found what I am looking for so I need some help. My question is on the anti squeak and their location. One of the manuals is calling for seven pieces of varying length. I am pretty sure I know where to put the 3-1/2'' pieces but unsure of the other five. Also is there any issue in using rubber for anti squeak? Thanks.

No issue using rubber Zeke just make sure it’s the right thickness.

There are a couple of illustrations. One of the long ones goes under the long strap, another under the short strap. The other ones between the tank and floor.

Search above for:

M38A1 antisqueak.

One word.

Two words gets you nothing.

Brian thanks for the info. What is the short strap you are referring to I just have the one long strap that mounts across the middle of the tank. Also where do I find the illustration of the anti squeak placement?

Yes I did search through your album Wes and I did see the illustration you posted I was just hoping to find a photo of the tank well showing where to apply the various lengths of anti squeak. Four of them are pretty self explanatory I was trying to figure out where the two 12'' pieces and the 23'' piece go.

23" goes under the strap. Most folks arrange the bottom strips to ensure all contact areas between the tank & the tub are insulated (against squeaking) yet they don't trap fluid trying to get the drain hole.

what was the reason behind the rubber o-ring that went around the drain hole.

I think the o ring you are referring to is the seal that goes around the fuel tank drain plug hole in the tank well.

yes thats right. my point being why the seal when the webbing is arranged to allow drainage out the drain hole.

Maybe since that drain plug hole is quite large maybe the seal is to prevent debris from getting in from underneath plus you still have the smaller hole for water drainage.
