Initial run and distributor setting

Hey guys...I just received my M38 engine back from the Speed Shop getting new main and rod bearings installed. I have the engine completely back in the jeep and have a question.
First background info....the speed shop removed, checked, and reinstalled the oil pump using the documentation from Wes where the large side of the oil pump drive shaft is at 2 o'clock position and the engine at 5 degrees before top dead center.
This jeep is also running 12 volts with civvy distributor....not 24 v original.
For the initial startup, what would be the proper position of the distributor to get an initial start. Should the points just start to open? Or on the lobe completely? Understanding that the rotor turns counter-clockwise as facing it.
Thanks in advance!
Mark
