saggy a1

When looking at the front of my a1 sitting in my driveway I noticed the driver side seemed to be sagging. So the first thing I did was check the air pressure in all four tires and make sure they were the same then made sure there was not a low spot in the driveway. Using a four foot level sitting on the front frame rails I have a measurement of 22-5/8'' on the p/s and 21-3/8'' on the d/s. So I am now trying to figure out the problem (weak spring or springs, bent frame, bad shocks). Is there a way to determine what the problem may be without having to do any disassembly or going to a frame shop?

Hi Zeke. Have you seen this old post?
I think Wes describes and explains the notorious "jeep lean" very well.

Pretty sure the TM gives a diagram with frame dimensions to basically determine if yours might be bent or not. I know my M38 TM does anyway because I used it with a plumb-bob.
Good luck!

After reading Wes's post regarding "jeep lean" I may try shimming the right rear spring as suggested. My question is how thick of a shim do I need to use to correct a 1'' lean, 1 inch?

It will vary considerably based on what spring rate each of your jeep's 4 spring sets have deteriorated to.
