When I got my M38 it did not have a front bumper, but had a plate welded to the front of the frame for a winch. I am in the process of grinding off the welds to remove that plate, but I am afraid that the original front of the frame will not be there.

I am trying to find pictures of the front of the frame to make sure that my frame still has all the metal that it’s suppose to have. The only pictures that I can find have the front bumper mounted on it. Any pictures or even pictures with dimensions on it would be very helpful!

My frame has the part that comes up to the bumper missing. Now I have to figure out how to rebuild that!?!?

The photo I saw of you frame showed you were only missing the front rail tips from just forward of the spring forward mount brackets. If you are comfortable fabricating and welding heavy gauge steel the all you need are dimensions. If you are a fabricator then finding a junk frame and buying the front tips is the way to go.

Let,s see if we can get you some dimensions.

I am not a fabricator, but I am willing to learn and probably know someone near me that can do it and teach me.

I am going to try and finish removing that winch plate today and get some pictures posted to show what I am missing.

If I could get the dimensions that would be amazing!

I have had this Jeep for 8 years and I am 26 now, so very little to no experience in restoring Jeeps. Having to learn everything as I go.

Those horns are in North Georgia.

Ryan's profile doesn't say where he is. Or did I miss it? Might not be too expensive shipping cost?

And I recall I just saw an ad for a guy parting out a M38 frame and body with a lot of the do-dads present for $1000. Don't remember the location, but it looked like a deal to me. Do I need to hunt it down again and post it?

I wish folks would post their location in their profile.......don't need grid coordinates but the name of the county and state would be nice?

And just because I'm not sure...the roached out horns advertised in Georgia on flea-bay are from a M38A1........are they the same as the M38 that Ryan has?

That would be great Rob! I wasn't able to get that plate off yesterday, so I am going to try to get with someone with a blow torch this week to get it off. And once I get it off we will know exact what I am missing and what measurements I need. But after comparing the pictures Wes attached I believe the only part that is missing is the front raised part of the frame and maybe some of the top of it.

For what it is worth, you do not need a photo gallery to post photos in the forums. Just upload your photos to a photo service. I use Imjur.com because they have a link to the photos for discussion boards. Click that and paste here and there are the photos. The photo gallery is a way to store your photos here for all to see at any time.

Ok Ryan, let me know what measurements you need when you're ready and I'd be glad to help.

Alright I got that winch plate off and grind off the welds to show what is left of the original frame. And well I am pleased at what was left as I thought there would be more gone. But, I still got some work to do.

Here are the pictures of my frame:









Now these are the measurements I think I need to complete this, I have marked them in yellow lines. I also need the diameter of the holes on the bottom and top. And please, if there are others measurements you think that I need or some that are unnecessary please let me know. Also, if I could get a side view looking inward of the frame without the bumper that would be awesome!
