Head water by pass.

Post by davem201m38 »

Hi all,
Can anybody tell me why the M38 has a Head/Pump water by pass but the MB doesn’t?

The M38 has it for faster engine warm up. We can only assume no one thought of it in 1941.

Ah, thank you Wes, the M201 has the option to set up it just the same, has the threaded holes but with plugs in them.

Just got my engine back from the 'shop' I'd assumed for 20 years the 'metal blank' in the head was a plug of some sort with the head broken off. It turned out somebody in it's anciet history had simply shoved a wooden dowl in the hole in the head.

That M38 had stood in a Greek bone yard for 20 years and I've had it for 20 years ish and that wooden dowl never leaked once!
