Does anyone know the correct capacitance for the M38 ignition points condensor?I have several supposed to be for the M38 but the UF readings varry greatly.

And .18 to .23 microfarads in the Prestolite Bulletin in this old post:

Curious--- what kind of capacitor tester are you using?

Wow, that's quite a nice museum piece --- a vintage 1950's vacuum tube capacitance tester.
Where did you find it?
I looked through the manual here:
https://www.radionerds.com/images/5/5f/ ... 043-12.pdf
Seems like automotive caps might be right on the spec limit for testing, with possibly a rather large accuracy range greater than 10%.
Being with vacuum tubes, has the analyzer been calibrated recently?
In other words, how do you know it's operating correctly?
Many things could account for the great variance in readings you're seeing.

it is calibrated to the TM and there are no varriations in readings.New caps test perfect.New ignition caps with the same part number test the same.New caps tests varried with different part numbers .I got it years ago for WWII radio restorations.
