Another use of Phillips head screws???

I was flipping through the manuals and came across this picture. It is on page 35 of the January 1956 TM9-8012.

It sure looks like a Phillips head screw hold the reflector on.

Hi, indeed it does and may be correct. From Wes's and Ryan's early research it appears that at some point between Jun and Sep 51, a very limited use of Phillips came into being. Yet, this research is in its infancy, so in my view, much data must be collected. I have tried to find out when Phillips came in use in the automobile industry and have hit a zilch. Wes, I think, reported that they were used on aircrat in the late 40s. I have wondered where the name comes from and even tried to learn who invented the babies, but no luck. Thanks for your interest and curosity as it is helpful to our better understanding. Semper Fi Ben
