GETTING CLOSE AND GETTING AN ITCH TO SODA BLAST AND PAINT MY M-100 ..WHAT IS THE CORRECT PERIOD PAINT FOR IT DOD 9-52 ???

I HAVE BEEN TOLD ITS SEMI-GLOSS 24087 !!! ???

OD semi-gloss 2430 was used on M series vehicles and the later darker OD colors did not appear until 1961.

I am not up on my M100 trailer paints, so anyone can chime in here.

Same paint as your M-38 would be... I did mine to match my USAF Strata Blue...

I painted my two projects, a 1951 M38 & a 1951 M100 with 23070, (produced by Gillespie)

I'll post some pics of the trailer when I get a camera that is on order. My last camera got wet, and I had to trash it.

Don't want to refuel a paint discourse here but let me put the last three numbers in perspective.

24087 is a much more green.brown OD and didn't appear in the paint specs until after 1953.

2430 a much more green/gray OD is the correct post WWII spec. and was used by Willys/Kaiser through 1968 in many applications but the the evidence points to 24087 appearing in the M38A1 production in the later 1950s. This old 4 digit spec number was replaced by the 5 digit system in 1953. During the transition to the 5 digit system 2430 was erroneously labeled 24087 and this was corrected in late 53.

23070 is a much more green/gray OD that looks very close however that 5 digit code is not a valid Federal paint spec. It is an imaginary number brought to life by Gillespie to ID their post WWII OD. It is also virtually identical to Army Jeep Parts' own brand label titled "Late World War II OD".

I believe most 1951 through 53 M100's were painted 2430. Since this spec is not produced today the next closest available paint is either Gillespi's 23070 or AJP's Late WWII OD.
