National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC)

Post by jbjeeps »

NIFC (formerly Boise Interagency Fire Center BIFC) is located at the Boise airport. It is the nation's headquarter's for wildland fire fighting. Training, strategy, communication, weather info, supplies, equipment and crews are all coordinated through NIFC.

The Wildland Firefighters Monument, maintained by private funds and efforts, is there too.

I joined a group of Boise area emergency incident managers last week and took a tour. Amazing place. During the fire season 500 - 750 people work there.

As always, took lots of photos. Here's a link to the blog if you're interested.

Glad you guys enjoyed the tour.

Yeah Rick, there were sure a bunch of those Stihls there. The guys I talked to there like them. I'll stick with my old Homelites. I'm up to 10 now and always looking for the next good deal on one.
