I was looking at some 60's mustang forums and they have a place to post their ongoing build threads so that members can follow along with photos and advice.

It seemed to be popular.


what do you guys think? Should we put one up here?

How would it work?
Any concerns with data storage/server capacity?

The way I have seen them work is a member starts a build thread with a few photos of the project and then re-posts as the project progresses.

Other member's also comment on the thread with advice, etc.
I think a lot of members here already have photo galleries so they could use those to post on the web or other sites like photo-bucket.

We are doing OK on server space and should do Ok if we keep the photos to 30 photos or less in appropriate size (50-200kb).

1and1.com offers inexpensive web hosting for $7.99 per year. If it's a relatively simple web site, there are editors that are actually quite painless to use (as well as being free), and you have more storage than you're likely to ever need. Add an ftp client (also free), and you're ready to go.

i like the idea, and i think it would help with questions members have. they could read and research a few build threads before asking. along with giving us something to observe and enjoy.

I've got a build thread in the tech knowledge board. I think it is useful because people can see how you took a beat up, torn down M38 or A1, and turned it into a good quality show or motor pool jeep. To me, it seems to give the guys who are just starting their resto (like me as I'm now in rebuild phase) an end goal they can see. Plus, if they hit a rough spot, they can look and see what other guys did. I think it will be very useful. Just my 2 cents.

A sample format would be in order. IE layout of material. A project thread should clearly ID the builder, his location, the jeep and the final desired product. Then perhaps specify photo sizes and quantities.
