Does the boot have a retaining clamp or is it just friction fitted to the tranny cover and then just protrudes through the hole in the top finish cover for the floor??? It seems that the boot i have is too small if it is fitted to the cover only??? Anyone had to deal with this?
Thanks

The boot does not connect to the stamped steel shifter cane cover. You will notice if you have the correct stamped steel cover it has no screw holes around the edge of the round opening. The civvy version does and uses a large diameter boot that is retained to the stamped steel cover with 4 screws and a steel retainer ring.

The M38 boot is attached directly to the cast iron transmission housing lid cane stalk receptacle.

Hi guys! I was just going to post this question, i.e. if the M38 had a retaining ring on the tranny boot, but I came right here!!! What a forum we have, Thanks Wes!
