Thanks, and that's the good side. I'm going to post some more pictures soon and request a photo gallery.

It's all a lot easier when you use the photo albums here on this web site. No need to fill a post up with photos. Just give the link to your album right here on our site and the other members can hop right over look.
Your photo album is at:

Thanks again Wes, decided to go back to the desk top instead of the tablet, if I'd done that before I wouldn't have got screwed up to begin with. The tablet is OK for some things but limited with out a mouse.

Sanded the hood on my M38 and found some strange colors. The hood, grill, windshield frame, steering column and some frame and suspension parts were originally yellow. The hood appeared to have had some round decals on it at one point. Then it was painted orange and the green (with a brush). I sanded a spot on the tub and all I found was four different coats of green.

The M38's left Willys in 2430 OD as the first coat of paint. The yellow/Orange you see are probably Civil Defense Markings. Hundreds of jeeps and M37's ended up in Civil Defense units across the country and their paint jobs varied but most were repainted yellow or orange and had the big CD decals in many different places.

This is my 52 A1 I bought in 1986 in South Dakota. It was auctioned off in a Pennington County SD municipal auction along with several other CD jeeps and trucks. The county had procured them from the military DRMO sales back in the 70's. I added the white spokes, civvy tires and Best Top. Drove it 20 miles each way to work every day for three years on I-90.

Wondering if the hood may have been replaced at some point, it's bare metal, red primer, yellow and the green is the last coat.

Willis used a thinned 2430 for primer and then a finish of un-thinned 2430 so if you have red primer that means stripped and repainted elsewhere.

Just for the heck of it I think I'll check the under side of the hood.
