Looks like a good one to build! Is it air force? looks pretty complete. I see that somebody took the rattling parking brake off (block under the front tire). Post up some more jeep porn!

ImageImageImage I'm not sure about what branch of service it was used in. if anyone can help me with the numbers on the bumper I would really Appreciate it. I'm not sure if they are original or something someone just painted on there. Thanks Jeff

Nice, original jeep! What does it say 103BN * ----PLT ? I can't really make out anything except the PLT on the driver side.

C 001 PLT the last 4 or 5 inches of the bumper appears to be red Also it looks like there might be a vertical line between the 0 and 3 on the other side.

10-3bn google search came up 3rd battalion 10th marine div, but your jeep doesn't have the typical marine features. I'm not really up on the markings. I read the manual, but still didn't get it! Someone will come in on it shortly I'm sure.

My guess is since she's blue and the bumper markings are USA type but not correctly done they may be 10th Inf. 3 Battalion C Company 1st Platoon but the proper would be more like 10 I 3 BN & C 1. The platoon does not go on the bumper markings. Or they could be a novice attempt at 10th Mountain Div 3rd Battalion .

Vehicle assignments were only recorded as low as Company level. So I would say you have a poorly devised set of markings installed by a civilian owner.

Photograph them and put the photos in your album that you display with the jeep. Maybe someday someone will recall what they may represent.

Then start wet sanding the bumper down looking for earlier markings.

ImageImage I think its probably not military. The blue color isn't the original color it has at least two other shades of OD green. Thanks Jeff

I like it. You got the 1st rule of restoration right: start with a good solid vehicle.

Actually my first rule is don't tell the wife what you spent! 8)
