Should I turn the drums?

I know this is not a trailer forum; however I am restoring my M-100 trailer, a little bit at a time...
I am in the process of sandblasting the parts for the brakes (all the little pieces and parts, along with the drums) in preparation of putting primer on them...
The inside of the drums have a little bit of pitting due to rust; only the good lord knows whe they worked last... Should I have them turned prior to reinstalling them?
They are the original drums, with the slot to adjust the brakes. I know that the brakes are only applied when parked. I feel it would give me a better grip and help keep things cleaner if I do...
Comments please...
