In order to keep photo sizes to a reasonable size so they do not burn up un-necessary bandwidth, server costs and reading space we ask you to limit all photos posted within a post to a file size of 250K. If you wish to reference a larger file version of your photo for more detailed viewing simply insert a link to that photo in your post.

FYI with some photo editors such as Gimp and Photoshop you can adjust the "quality" of JPG image files before you save them. The "quality" settings controls how much the editor will compress the file and for most uses you can set the quality pretty low before the effect becomes noticeable in the image. The point is that you can still have a large image but get the file size down considerably by tweaking the amount of compression so it's not necessary to reduce the image size.
Also if you're posting text documents you can probably convert them to black and white or grey scale instead of color and that will also reduce the file size.
